Helene Gates, Carlos Martinez are engaged

Gary and Donna Gates of Struthers are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Helene Gates, and Carlos Martinez, both of Poland. His parents are Caridad Jaramillo of Fort Worth, Texas, and Samuel Martinez of Lawton, Okla.

Victory Christian Center in Boardman will be the location of the open wedding at 2 p.m. Aug. 8. Invitations will be issued for a reception to follow at The Embassy in Boardman.

The bride-to-be graduated cum laude from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She works as a program facilitator for Mahoning County Juvenile Court in Youngstown.

The prospective groom works for Western Reserve Joint Fire District Station 91 in Poland.
