2 sobriety checkpoints tonight in Mahoning County
CANFIELD — The Mahoning County OVI Task Force, in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, announced that two operating a vehicle while impaired checkpoints will be conducted tonight.
One checkpoint will be at 4545 New Road in Austintown and will run from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. Saturday. The other will be on Glenwood Avenue in Youngstown and also will run from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m. Saturday
In addition, police officers from participating agencies of the task force will be conducting saturation patrols in various parts of the county throughout the weekend.
The checkpoints, funded by federal grant funds, are planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. Several agencies work collaboratively with the task force and provide support, including the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency and Mahoning County Safe Communities.
