Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The Stambaugh Chorus, director by Hae-Jong Lee, will begin its 2015-16 season Aug. 25 with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. in the ballroom of Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.

The chorus is accepting new members, and the dinner is open to interested singers from the community, as well as past and present members. New members will be accepted through September.

The chorus’s first project is a Night at the Races fundraiser in October.

Upcoming concerts include participation in Opera Western Reserve’s “Elixir of Love“ on Nov. 13.

A holiday concert, in collaboration with the Dana School of Music’s Carols and Cocoa, will take place Dec. 2 at Stambaugh Auditorium, featuring Vivaldi’s “Magnificat in G Minor” and other seasonal music.

On Dec. 13, the Stambaugh Chorus and the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band will host the fifth Holiday Concert of Giving to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

In January, the chorus will resume rehearsal and will again have limited auditions.

An early Spring program is planned for April 3 and May 20, when the chorus will present Faure’s “Requiem” as part of a peace-themed concert involving local high school and children’s choirs at Stambaugh.

Throughout the season, the chorus will continue to participate in outreach programs at various nursing homes and other venues.

Rehearsals will take place from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Stambaugh Ballroom.
