Program to be launched

What’s planned: Weeklong Summer Arts Camp being hosted by St. Patrick Church is a pilot program for the Southside Fine Arts Academy, which organizers hope to launch in October. The location is to be determined.

Mission: “To inspire, to empower and transform.”

Sponsor: Mahoning Valley Chorale will be the umbrella organization for the academy, which will be set up as a non-profit organization with board of directors.

Students and teachers: Open to kindergarten through 12th graders from the South Side. Instructors will be from Youngstown State University and the Valley. Students must apply; there are no fees.

Classes: Voice, dance and movement, visual arts, theater and acting, creative writing and poetry, performance and drum circles will be offered.
