Mercer County woman charged with killing her husband out of hospital

SHARON, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania woman charged with killing her husband before also shooting herself has been released from St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, and is jailed in that state awaiting extradition.

Sharon police have charged 46-year-old Amy Emmett with first- and third-degree murder in the July 26 shooting of her 45-year-old husband, William.

That occurred in the Sharon Regional Health System lot.

Emmett was taken to St. Elizabeth, but authorities say she was released Wednesday and taken to the Mahoning County jail.

Mercer County District Attorney Robert Kochems says Emmett's preliminary hearing will likely be scheduled within 10 days of her medical clearance.
