Kasich ends debate touting accomplishments, avoided negativity

CLEVELAND

Gov. John Kasich spoke about his accomplishments during his closing statement at tonight’s Republican presidential debate.

Kasich said the others on stage talk about what they want to do while he wants to “tell you what I’ve done.”

He again touted his time in Congress, calling himself the “chief architect” of balancing the budget, and 10 years in the private sector where he learned how “business works.” That time was as a Fox News TV host and as an executive at Lehman Brothers.

He also said that he turned around the finances of Ohio during his time as governor.

Throughout the two-hour debate, Kasich refused to go negative, even though there were plenty of opportunities to do so.

The debate in Cleveland featured the top 10 GOP presidential candidates based on recent national polls. Kasich finished 10th, just getting into the prime-time debate on Fox News over ex-Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
