Television series being released this week, and in the near future, include:

v “The Comeback”: Lisa Kudrow’s much-loved mockumentary returned to life on HBO nine years after being canceled, and it’s still a super skewering of showbiz fame-chasing. In the 2005 original – included here – her oblivious onetime sitcom star, Valerie Cherish, attempts a series return. In 2014’s “Comeback” comeback, she winds up playing herself in a series dramatizing that ill-fated ordeal, with co-star Seth Rogen. Cameos abound – director James Burrows, Bravo talker Andy Cohen, Jay Leno, Marilu Henner and many more; extras include creators Kudrow and Michael Patrick King doing commentary, more; $20 for all 21 episodes of both series, out this week from HBO.

v “The Affair”: Dominic West, Ruth Wilson, Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson star in Showtime’s stark two-sides telling of an unfaithful relationship (and a murder), winner of this year’s Golden Globe for drama series; $40, out this week from CBS.

v “I Love Lucy” (season 2): (Blu-ray). Now in HD: the chocolate factory speed-up (optionally colorized, quite well), Lucy tells Ricky she’s pregnant, plus bonus features galore; $130 Blu-ray, out this week from CBS.

v “Outlander Vol. 2”: Due out Sept. 29

v “American Horror Story: Freak Show”: Due out Oct. 6

“America’s Next Top Model” (8 p.m., The CW): Now that a male – Keith Carlos – has won the title on “America’s Next Top Model,” expect the guys to bring some extra gusto to Season 22, as the co-ed cast convenes in Hollywood and models swimwear.

“Mr. Robinson” (9 p.m., NBC): In the new sitcom “Mr. Robinson,” Craig Robinson (“The Office”) stars as the lead singer of a funk band who is forced to take a job as a high school music teacher when he runs short on cash. Hilarity supposedly ensues.

“JFK & LBJ: A TIME FOR GREATNESS” (9 P.M., PBS): This retrospective presents a history of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act.

“The Jim Gaffigan Show” (10 p.m., TV Land): Imagine an episode of this show revolving around dinner.

Vintage Ohio event returns for weekend

KIRTLAND

The Vintage Ohio wine, food and music festival will return for its 21st year this Friday and Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. both days, at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Euclid Chardon Road.

The festival attracts 20,000 wine lovers. This year, craft beer will be added to the event. The breweries are affiliated with existing wineries, including Cellar Dweller Brewery (Valley Vineyards in Morrow), Cellar Rats Brewery (Debonne Vineyards) and Maize Valley Brewery (Maize Valley Winery in Hartville), and will pour samples in a new pavilion overlooking the Farmparks’ pond.

The focal point of the festival is and always will remain the wines produced by Ohio vintners, and 17 wineries will be represented.

The event includes food vendors and wine education classes. For ticket information, go to visitvintageohio.com or call 800-227-6972.
