Fire alarm saves Warren Township woman, dog from injuries
WARREN — A woman and her dog escaped from her home at 2821 Highland Ave. in Warren Township thanks to a fire alarm.
The 3:36 a.m. fire today caused substantial smoke and heat damage throughout, said Kenneth Schick, township fire chief. It started in the master bathroom, but the cause is still under investigation, and Schick said he didn’t have a dollar estimate of damage.
Firefighters from Champion, Lordstown and Weathersfield Township assisted.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family with living arrangements. The woman and her dog were not injured, but one Warren Township firefighter injured his ankle falling through a floor, Schick said.
