July Cruze sales surpass last year's

LORDSTOWN — The Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze keeps cruising.

Although it faces tough competition, the Cruze saw a 2 percent year-over-year increase in sales this July with 21,339 sold compared with 20,926 sold in July 2014, General Motors said today.

GM had a 6 percent increase with 272,512 sales.

Buick sales increased by 18 percent; GMC sales increased by 1 percent; and Chevrolet sales increased by 8 percent.

Retail deliveries increased by 14 percent year over year for GM’s best retail sales in July since 2007.

Fleet deliveries were down 20 percent because of GM’s continued to work to reduce sales to rental customers and grow commercial and government sales.
