The YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave., is offering a Lunch and Learn program featuring ballroom dancing for physical and mental well-being.

It will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at the YWCA of Youngstown.

Guest speakers will be Lynda McPhail and Joe Sepesy from A Time To Dance. Sepesy will share his journey from U.S. Army helicopter pilot and disabled veteran to accomplished ballroom dancer.

The cost is $10 and includes lunch.

Registration is necessary by Aug. 17.

Historical society plans a Princess Tea

The Niles Historical Society is planning a Princess Tea from noon to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 22 on the grounds of the Ward Thomas House, 503 Brown St.

The cost is $20 for one child and an adult. Any additional children from a family will be admitted at $5 each. The cost includes a light lunch, an hour with Cinderella, interactive activities, photo opportunity, favors and a craft.

Girls are encouraged to wear a princess outfit or their prettiest dress.

Poker run to benefit Autism society

On Aug. 22 the third annual Mike Hull Memorial Ride for Autism will provide an afternoon of family activities.

The poker run will begin with registration at 11 a.m. at the Dash Inn, 2716 Mahoning Ave., and the last bike will return at 5 p.m. to Strikers at Mahoning Valley Lanes, 2617 Mahoning Ave. All children and adults with special needs can bowl free there all day, and Stormy Weather Band will perform.

Also featured will be a DJ and basket and 50-50 raffles. Pizza and beverages will be sold.

The costs are $10 per rider or $15 per rider with T-shirt, and both include food ticket and music.

A pasta dinner, $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under, will follow the ride.

Advance registration packets can be picked up from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 21 at Strikers.

All proceeds benefit programming at the Autism Society of Ohio, Mahoning Valley office.
