Youngstown cops make seven arrests on drug charges this weekend
Staff report
Police arrested at least seven people over the weekend on drug-related charges.
Tara Stewart, 25, exited her vehicle after it was pulled over on Philadelphia Avenue for failing to stop at a stop sign at 12:36 a.m. Sunday, according to a police report.
While officers spoke with Stewart, they noticed that Candice Jackson, 24, a front-seat passenger, had a crack pipe and a plastic bag containing crack cocaine in her lap. Police also found two pink wax paper bindles containing heroin on the passenger side and three additional ones on the driver’s side, the report said.
Three used syringes with needle, a burnt spoon and copper mesh, which is used as a filter in crack pipes, were found in the vehicle as well.
Both Stewart and Jackson were charged with illegal uses or possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of heroin. Stewart was cited for the traffic violation and driving under suspension. Jackson was charged with possession of cocaine.
