YOUNGSTOWN

Police have identified two juvenile suspects charged in the fatal shooting of an East LaClede Avenue man late last month.

Brayquan Walker, 16, is in custody at the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center facing an aggravated-murder charge in the death of Jarrel Brown, 18.

Police still are looking for James Johnson, 15, Detective Sgt. Rick Spotleson of the police department’s detective bureau, said Saturday.

Brown was found shot to death about 10:15 p.m. last Sunday at the intersection of West Indianola Avenue and Market Street on the South Side.

Police believe Brown was shot somewhere close by and walked to the intersection, where he collapsed. He was spotted by a passer-by who called police.

Spotleson said Brown was killed because of a disagreement over a previous crime the three had committed that resulted in their arrests.

Police used surveillance video from the area to help in their investigation, and Spotleson said Friday some witnesses also had come forward.

Walker was arrested at his South Side home Thursday, Spotleson said.

Spotleson asked anyone who knows where Johnson is to call police. Spotleson said Johnson is a black male, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, 145 pounds. He also has large, distinctive hair, Spotleson said.

Spotleson said if someone spots Johnson 911 also can be called.

Brown’s death is Youngstown’s 13th homicide of the year. There were six homicides at this time last year. In 2014, the city recorded 19 homicides.
