Kent targeted as most racist city in Northeast Ohio
KENT, Ohio
A group of clergy in northeast Ohio is taking steps to combat racism in Kent, a city that Google identified as the most racist in the region.
Google identified Kent as the most racist Northeast Ohio city based on the percentages of racially charged searches.
Rev. William Meyer, interim pastor at First Christian Church, says members of his congregation took a symbolic march Sunday morning along with clergy and laypeople from other faith communities in the Akron area.
The march represents the action component of the mission of a developing organization, tentatively called the Kent Inter-Faith Alliance on Reconciliation and Justice. The group also hopes to create a forum for dialogue on issues of reconciliation and social justice.
