YOUNGSTOWN

Katie Hurbean and Andrew Backur, both of Barberton, are engaged, the mother of the groom is announcing. The parents of the bride-elect are Susan and Robert Hurbean of Barberton, and the parents of the future groom are Nancy Backur of Youngstown and Ronald Backur of Canton.

The couple are planning a 4:30 p.m. ceremony Oct. 17 at The Canton Club, and a reception will follow. Invitations will be extended to both events.

The bride-to-be graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in psychology.

Her fianc graduated from the University of Toledo with a degree in mechanical engineering.
