Geocaching program may lead to treasure

SALEM

Geocaching is an outdoor activity that uses a Global Positioning System (GPS ) to find locations of hidden treasure caches.

It is a family-friendly way to combine outdoor physical activity and geography.

Learn more about this popular pastime at Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., from 1 to 2 p.m. Aug. 15, when a PowerPoint program will be presented by Mark and Shawna L’Italian in the library’s Quaker Room.

After the presentation attendees may head out to one of Salem’s parks to search for a cache.

The program, hosted by the library and Salem Parks and Recreation Department, is another offering in the “Go Wild in the Parks” series.

This free activity is open to the public.

Registration is requested online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or call the library at 330-332-0042 for information and registration assistance.
