Ethnic heritage program planned
LIBERTY
Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church will present an ethnic heritage program for the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society at 10 a.m. Aug. 15 at Kravitz’s Deli Meeting Room, 3135 Belmont Ave.
Admission is free and open to the public. Reservations are suggested. Walk-ins are welcome. A good will offering will be accepted, and refreshments will be served. A 50-50 raffle also will benefit the society.
Dr. John Malys and other parishioners will present a DVD featuring the Ukrainian immigrant experience, the important role of the Orthodox Church in the lives of Ukrainian parishioners and the rich Ukrainian historical and cultural assets embodied by the Ukrainian community.
Highlights of the DVD include the distinctive architecture of the church, social hall and picnic pavilion events, and the legacy of an Eastern European ethnic enclave in the Mahoning Valley.
