Trumbull recorder again warns property owners of misleading deed advertisements

Trumbull County Recorder Diana Marchese again is warning county residents to be aware of a company sending out mailings offering to provide a copy of their property deed for $89.
The notices went out to some county residents recently from the company “Local Records Office” with an address of High Street, Columbus. The same company has sent out mailings in the county in the past, apparently to people who have had a recent property transfer.
Marchese reminds local property owners they can obtain a certified copy of their deed at her office, on the first floor of the county administration building, 160 High St. NW, across from the Courthouse, for $5, or they can obtain one free on the recorder’s office website.
One problem with the notices is that they make the receiver wonder if there some reason they need a copy of their deed, but Marchese says it’s unlikely they do.
If they do want one later, they can obtain one anytime from her office, she said.
