State Fair's Senior Day is Tuesday for Ohioans older than 60
COLUMBUS (AP) — Older Ohioans can get free blood pressure and other health screenings amid the funnel cakes, corn dogs and other Ohio State Fair fare.
The state Department of Aging is urging people to visit the “Well Beyond 60!” expo at the fair on Tuesday, Senior Day, when visitors 60 and older get half-price admission to the fair. The expo will offer blood pressure and vision screenings, falls risk assessments, and other health information. There also will be a falls prevention mini-workshop.
Recent projections estimate Ohio’s population will grow from the current 14 percent of people 65 and older to 22 percent by 2032. State officials are emphasizing the need for health and safety-prevention initiatives and awareness to keep aging Ohioans active and healthy.
