Trumbull officials set news conference

WARREN

The Trumbull County commissioners will have a news conference at 10:15 a.m. today at their meeting room at the county administration building on Courthouse Square to discuss a proposed county sales-tax increase.

The commissioners had two public hearings this month, telling those in attendance that the $6 million per year that an additional quarter-percent sales tax would raise was needed because of the dwindling rainy-day fund.

Store robbed

Dozens of panties were stolen from Victoria’s Secret at Southern Park Mall on Sunday. Police said 80 pairs of underwear valued at $1,000 were stolen from the store at 7401 Market St. .

A male and two females walked into the store, took the panties and left during a busy day in the store. It was reported to police at 10:17 a.m. Monday after employees discovered how much was taken.

March for Babies meeting planned

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning Valley mothers and fathers participating in this year’s March for Babies walk will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Boardman branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 7680 Glenwood Ave.

They will create posters of their stories of prematurity, birth defects or infant mortality that will be displayed at the 2015 March for Babies walk May 17 at Youngstown State University.

The March for Babies is the largest annual fundraiser for the March of Dimes.

Bridge inspection set for next 2 weeks

WELLSVILLE

The Ohio Department of Transportation will be inspecting several area bridges over the next two weeks during daytime hours.

Inspections in Columbiana County will include: inspections of the state Route 7 bridge over state Route 45 and Little Yellow Creek in Wellsville on May 6; two U.S. Route 30 bridges over the railroad, Ohio River and ramp at East Liverpool on May 11; two state Route 39 bridges over the railroad and U.S. 30 westbound ramp on May 12; and the state Route 344 bridge over Little Beaver Creek west of Leetonia on May 13. Traffic will be maintained.

Road closing

SOUTHINGTON

County Line Turnpike Road between Stroup Hickox Road and the state Route 534 bridge in Southington Township will be closed Monday and next Tuesday for soil boring.

The recommended detour is north on state Route 534; east on state Route 88; south on Hoffman Norton Road; or west on County Line Turnpike Road.
