BASEBALL

South Range 8, Springfield 3

Dylan Keller was 2-for-3 and scored twice and Josh Fromel was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, as South Range swept it’s early-season series with Springfield. Tyler Baird pitched six innings with six strikeouts to earn the win for the Raiders (11-5, 3-1). Mark Schuler went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for the Tigers (13-6, 4-2).

Niles 4, Lakeview 2

Geno Barricella had two hits and two RBIs and Jaret Johnson pitched a complete-game, striking out 10 for the Red Dragons. Ethan Myers went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs.

Girard 6, Campbell 1

Christian Bello got the win, giving up five hits in six innings with seven strikeouts and three walks. Isaiah Dunivant went 2-for-3 with a run and Kyle Harris was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs for Girard (7-10, 6-3 AAC Blue). Dylan White added three RBIs. For Campbell (4-8, 4-6), Nico Bednarik and Will Morris each had two hits.

Canfield 5, Howland 3

Mike Sebes had two hits and a RBI and Luke Kelty pitched six innings striking out four. Chris Lewis had two hits and a RBI for the Cardinals (11-6). Zach Nites had a hit and a RBI for the Tigers.

Champion 34, Liberty 0

Michael Turner collected six hits and drove in six runs and the Golden Flashes (11-2, 8-1 All-American Conference) scored an astounding 23 runs in the top of the third inning. Champion finished with 36 hits, including five by Jake Walters, four each by Ram Rable and Joe Batcho and three each by Lucas Nasonti and Chris Miller. Walters had six RBIs, Rable had five and Nasonti had four.

Jackson-Milton 9, Mineral Ridge 1

Justin Rentz had a hit and a RBI and the Bluejays scored five runs in the sixth inning. Daren Colon had two hits for the Rams.

Poland 15, Edgewood 1, five innings

Eric White pitched five innings and had six strikeouts, Dom Lipari had three hits and four RBIs and Ricky Svetlak had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs (14-1).

Western Reserve 13, Lowellville 0

Walker Marlowe had two hits and three RBIs and John Clegg had a double, three RBIs and picked up the win for the Blue Devils (13-3).

Hubbard 8, Struthers 0

Colin Shinosky went seven innings giving up six hits and striking out four for the Eagles (7-7). Zach Hover was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Drew Bencetic had three hits and three RBIs.

Cardinal Mooney 6, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 5

Jack Lynch had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run for Mooney, which scored the game-winner in the top of the seventh inning. Aaron Woodberry added two RBIs and scored a run.

Late Monday

Girard 3, Campbell 0

Kyle Harris pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks for Girard. He also scored two runs, while Austin DeGregory went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Dylan White had an RBI double. Nico Bednarik doubled for Campbell.

SOFTBALL

Canfield 4, Poland 1

Allison Fabry (5-0) pitched a four-hitter, striking out four and walking one for Canfield (10-3). Ally Sammarco singled, doubled and scored two runs for the Cardinals and Rachel Tinkey had an RBI single. Kristyn Svetlak pitched a four-hitter for Poland (9-5), striking out five and walking three. She had a double and Claire Testa had an RBI double.

Lakeview 25, Niles 2

Sam Marino had two hits and six RBIs and Hannah Rogers added two hits and three RBIs as the Bulldogs routed the Red Dragons. Kylee Mann had two doubles and Avrey Steiner had two hits and two RBIs for Lakeview.

Howland 21, Ashtabula Lakeside 2

Thanks to a 14-run fourth inning, Howland cruised past Ashtabula Lakeside. Hanah Kowach and Morgan Remsey both went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in five runs for the Tigers. Remsey also scored four runs with four other hitters crossing the plate three times. Gabby Hartzell struck out four over five innings for the win.

Girard 9, Campbell 5

Rosemarie Maderitz had three hits for Girard. Dominique Swiney-Gray had two singles and a triple and Nomiki Tsagaris had a two-run triple for Campbell.

McDonald 10, Sebring 5

Kerrigan McDermout had three hits and an RBI and Pam Beedle added two hits and an RBI as McDonald topped Sebring. Rachel Ward struck out four, walked five and gave up two hits to earn the win for the Blue Devils (8-3, 6-1). Sydney Smith had a pair of RBIs for the Trojans, while Lexi Dennis took the loss.

Mooney 6, Rocky River Magnificat 5

The Cardinals came back from a 5-0 deficit to beat the Blue Streaks. Lauren Frommelt had the game-tying single and Kelly Williams had the game-winning single for the Cardinals (15-1). Jami DiFabio had three hits for the Cardinals.

West Branch 7, Carrollton 2

Kelsey Byers went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Bailey Byers went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lift West Branch over Carrollton. Kelsey also pitched five innings, striking out four, to earn the win for the Warriors (10-4, 6-2). Kendall McFarland went 2-for-3 to lead Carrollton.

Mineral Ridge 10, Jackson-Milton 0, five innings

Darby Kolesar threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and zero walks for Mineral Ridge. Caitlin Christy had three hits, while Macey Garland and Kolesar both added two hits for the Rams (5-4).

Hubbard 3, Struthers 1, eight innings

Caitlin O’Hara hit a walk-off two-run home run and Addy Jarvis pitched eight innings, striking out 15 and gave up three hits for the Eagles (9-6. Samantha Novtis hit a home run for the Wildcats.

LaBrae 7, Windham 0

Kasey Rininger had two hits and three RBIs and Skyler Gilanyi had three hits and two RBIs for the Vikings.

South Range 6, Springfield 1

Jordan Youngs and Codi Taylor each had a two-run home run for the Raiders. Josie Applegarth had a home run for the Tigers (7-9).

Brittany Allen hit a two-run home run and had three RBIs to lead Champion over Liberty. McKenzie Zigmont recorded 14 strikeouts to earn her four win of the season for the Flashes (11-3, 5-1). Samanthe Serrano and Megan Gatta each doubled for the Leopards (5-8, 1-5).

Western Reserve 13, Lowellville 1

Jenny Stubbs had four hits, including a double, and three RBIs and Tory White added two hits and two RBIs for the Blue Devils (8-5, 7-1 ITCL). Maddie Krietzburg tossed a four-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks. For Lowellville, Liv Sotlar homered.

Lisbon 5, Southern 4

Bailey McCullough was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in the winning run for Lisbon. The Blue Devils (5-9, 4-2) outhit Southern 9-3.

Mathews 6, Warren Harding 1

Cheyenne Eggens gave up three hits and had 14 strikeouts and Meredith Grimes had three hits for the Mustangs (11-3). Anaya Langford had two hits for the Raiders (5-8).
