Warren resident chases, catches three men accused of burglarizing his garage

Staff report

WARREN

Three men were arrested about 2:30 a.m. Monday at the corner of North Park Avenue and Atlantic Street Northeast after a Comstock Street man said he saw them breaking into his shed about 2:15 a.m. and saw one of them take a power tool.

The man said he woke up to noises in his attached garage and looked out to see the garage door open and two men run out. A third man who had been outside the garage ran with them.

The resident got into his car and chased the three, finding them near Dana Street and North Park and seeing the man later identified as John P. Cline Jr., 24, of Belvedere Avenue Southeast and and Hall Street Northwest, holding his saw in its case. Cline handed it back to the owner, who called police and continued to follow the men until police arrived and arrested them.

Not-guilty pleas were entered in Warren Municipal Court for Cline to felony burglary; James G. Lovash, IV, 24, of Belmont Street Northeast to felony burglary and possessing criminal tools; and Ricky Barton, 18, of Idylwild Street Northeast to felony burglary. Lovash was charged with posessing criminal tools because he had a screwdriver in his backpack, police said.

All three are being held in the Trumbull County jail in lieu of $15,000 bond.
