The BoDeans will play at Jergel’s in Warrendale, Pa., tonight, and at Kent Stage on Wednesday night. Here are five facts about the long-lived band, which released its 12th studio album, “I Can’t Stop,” last week:

v Formation: The band was formed in Waukesha, Wis., in 1983 by Kurt Neumann and Sammy Lianis, and released its acclaimed debut album, “Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams,” in 1986.

v Early acclaim: The band got off to a strong start, landing the opening slot on U2’s 1987 tour, a “best new band” nod in Rolling Stone in 1987 and some MTV air play.

v Striving for fame: The band never lived up to its early promise, and attempted a more commercial sound with 1991’s “Black and White” album.

v A hit: The band returned to its original approach with 1995’s “Go Slow Down,” finally scoring a hit with “Closer to Free,” which became the theme song to the Fox TV series “Party of Five.”

v Rolling with the punches: Fans of the rootsy, guitar-driven band will hear several new songs at this week’s concerts, including the upbeat “Roll with the Punches.”

“The Day the ’60s Died” (8 p.m., PBS): This documentary examines the Kent State shootings and other fallout from the Vietnam War.

“Last Days in Vietnam” (9 P.M., PBS): The American Experience series brings this gripping, Oscar-nominated documentary to television. Directed by Rory Kennedy, the film marks the 40th anniversary of the fall of Saigon. Via powerful interviews and wrenching footage, it recalls how, with the clock ticking and the city under fire, an unlikely group of heroes helped 135,000 South Vietnamese citizens escape.

“The Runner Up” (10 p.m., Esquire): This compelling documentary series about the North Carolina congressional bid of former “American Idol” finalist Clay Aiken, ends with Election Day results. Spoiler alert: He lost.
