AUCTIONS

Mathews Varsity-Junior Varsity Parents will host a quarter auction May 9 at the Italian Fraternal Home, 33 W. Wilson Ave., Girard. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the auction begins at 7. The event is for those 18 and older. Tickets are advance only and cost $5 each, which includes the first bidding number. Additional numbers are available for purchase at the event. Mental Health Association of Mercer County will have its annual basket auction beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday at Sharon American Legion, 1395 E. State St., Sharon, Pa., next to Country Fair. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. The donation of $5 covers admission and a sheet of basket auction tickets. Extra tickets will be sold for the basket auction, larger items, a 50-50 raffle and more. St. Paul School will host live and silent auctions beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the school gymnasium, 925 E. State St., Salem. Admission of $10 includes a bidding number, a door prize entry, a drink voucher and food. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. BAKE SALES

Team Santa’s Cause will host a bake sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 2 at Wal-mart, 1300 Doral Drive, in Boardman. Many types of goodies will be for sale along with tickets for a $2,500 Visa Gift Card raffle for $10 each. All funds will go to the American Cancer Society’s 2015 Boardman Relay For Life.

BINGO/Card PARTIES

St. Rose Church, 61 E. Main St., will have a Big Bingo Night May 15, with prizes of $6,000 in bingo games expected to be paid out. Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $35 a ticket per person. Advance tickets are being sold at Wednesday night St. Rose Bingo and Monday through Friday at St. Rose Rectory. Call ahead for availability at 330-545-4351. Tickets also are available by calling 330-545-8207. A maximum of 250 tickets will be sold. Prizes are guaranteed with a minimum of 180 in attendance. The first half coverall is $1,000, and the second half coverall is $1,500. Other prizes are three $100 Cash prizes, two sets of one month free bingo (valued at $100 each), Winner Take All Raffle at $3 per ticket or two tickets for $5 and four tickets for $10. Pull-tab games also will be sold.

St. Jude Parish, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana, will host a Super Bingo Sunday on May 3. Doors open at 1 p.m. for early birds, lunch and early seating. Games begin at 2:30 p.m. A $25 donation entitles players to daubers, coffee and pop for the day, all cards for all games (specials are sold separately) and a chance to win $3,400 in cash prizes, including at $1,000 guaranteed coverall. Other features include a lunch counter, bake sale and goodies sale.

BOOK SALES

New Wilmington Kiwanis annual used book sale will take place at Jameson New Wilmington Health Center, 138 S. Market St., New Wilmington, Pa., across from Rite Aid. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Paperbacks will be 50 cents and hardbacks, $1. All books have been donated by the community and will be sorted and displayed by category. Proceeds will support various community programs, especially those serving children and youth.

CRAFT SHOWS

Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic NE, Warren, will sponsor its second annual Craft & Vendor Show Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will help raise cancer awareness, and proceeds go to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. Featured at the event will be a basket auction, 50-50 raffle, bake sale and more than 45 vendors. Admission is free.

HEALTH FAIRS

St. Elizabeth Breast Health Awareness Board will present Live for You: Get Smart, Get Healthy from 6 to 8 p.m. May 7 at Yellow Creek Lodge in Yellow Creek Park, 19 Lowellville Road, Struthers. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the event, which will feature light refreshments and presentations by Bridget Lackey RD, LD, on Good Choices; Liberty Merrill of the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., on Youngstown Resources for Healthy Lifestyles; a physical therapist on The Importance of Exercise; and Collette Miller on Chair Yoga and Healing Oils. NIGHTS AT THE RACES

AMVETS Post 44, 305 Elm St., Struthers, will sponsor a Night at the Races at 6:30 p.m. May 9. Admission of $20 includes food, two drink tickets and name your horse.

SALES

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will have a spring trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 6 and 7. The last day is bargain bag day. Coffee and doughnuts will be available.

Christ Community Church, 531 Neoka Drive, across from Four Seasons Flea Market in Campbell, is having a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. On Saturday, shoppers can fill a bag for $2.

First United Methodist Church, 237 W. Silver St., Sharon, Pa., is having a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, which is $1 a bag day. It will feature clothing, jewelry, toys, small appliances, linens, antiques, collectibles and miscellaneous. A bake sale will be included Friday.

Girard Junior Women will have their annual trunk and treasure sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9 at 100 N. Market St. in Girard. The event will take place rain or shine. Call 330-545-5962 to reserve a spot. Spots for the trunk sale are available at $15 each. The event, which will have a variety of goods for sale, will take place on the Girard City lot across from the city building and is visible from Route 422. All proceeds are donated back to the Girard community.

Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown, will host a Trash & Treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Lunch, baked goods and refreshments will be available as shoppers peruse a variety of items including household goods, tools, books, clothes and collectibles. Proceeds are used by the men’s group to fund improvement or maintenance projects at the church. Enter the sale area at the back of the church.

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothes for the entire family. Just in for women are sizes 3X, 4X and 5X. Some wedding attire is available. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays.

Mothers of Twins Club will have its annual rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at First Covenant Church, 5210 Glenwood Ave., at the corner of Shields Road, Boardman. Twin-related items and clothes for infants, toddler, children and adults are available, along with household items, toys and electronics.

Pricetown Methodist Church, 4640 Pritchard Ohltown Road, Newton Falls, will have a huge rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 30 and May 1, and it will include a bake sale and lunch. From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday is bag day.

Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown, will host a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. beginning May 5 and each Tuesday into October, weather permitting. Vendors can set up early in the spaces, which cost $5 each. Refreshments are available.

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will host an indoor/outdoor trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 8 and 9. Vendors are welcome. Haluski, pasta fagioli and kolbasi will be available. For information call 330-792-0629.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road (Route 62), Canfield, will have its annual garage, attic and basement sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. On Friday, fill a brown paper bag with clothes for $4. Hanging clothes and accessories are priced separately. Saturday is half-price day.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Leetonia Community Public Library, 181 Walnut St., is hosting an Antiques and Appraisals program with Dave Dangerfield, certified appraiser, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 11. There is no registration. Take no more than three items for appraisal.

TRIPS

Trumbull County Travel Club’s next day trip, May 14, is a “Brown Bag” outing to Columbiana County with lunch included at the Historic Spread Eagle Tavern. Five establishments will be visited for touring, and each one will hand out something to put into one’s brown bag and take home. On June 4 members will go to Blue Stone Perennial’s greenhouse clearance sale, which takes place only once a year. Lunch is included at the Cornerstone Brewery plus a candy store stop and wine taste. An Oct. 20-24 motor coach trip to Williamsburg, Va., and Washington, D.C., is in place as well as a two-day trip to Lancaster, Pa., June 9 and 10.
