OSHP checkpoints planned this week

CANFIELD

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said troopers will have checkpoints this week to deter and stop impaired drivers throughout the state.The counties for the checkpoints will be announced the day before, and the specific location will be announced the day of the checkpoints, OSHP wrote in an announcement. Support for the effort will be provided by local law-enforcement agencies.

Open house set

MERCER, PA.

The Mercer County Historical Society, 119 S. Pitt St., will host an open house in honor of its 3-1-1 Capital Fundraising Campaign and the resulting restoration and reconfiguration of the Anderson/Magoffin Complex from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. The public is encouraged to view the various upgrades that have been made as well as the new look in the library and galleries. There will be punch and light snacks available. Cardio classes

WARREN

Warren SCOPE, 220 W. Market St., is announcing the arrival of “Silver Sneakers” classes that are set to begin May 11. Cardio circuit classes will take place Mondays at 9 a.m., and gentle yoga will be Wednesdays at 9 a.m. Interested parties whose insurance covers these classes can speak to Ro Ragazzine at the Warren SCOPE Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 6 or call 330-399-8846.

Town-hall meeting

YOUNGSTOWN

The Newport Neighborhood Association will have a town-hall meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Newport branch library, 3730 Market St. A guest speaker is set to attend.
