AKRON

Haylee Gardiner (5-2) tossed a three-hitter, striking out 12 and walking one in the Akron Racers Tournament at Firestone Stadium. The Golden Flashes (9-3) scored in the second inning when Brittany Allen singled, took second on Carissa Hurst’s sacrifice bunt and came home on Gardiner’s hit.

Akron Hoban 4, Canfield 3

AKRON

For the Cardinals (6-2), Amelia Manenti’s two hits included a double and drove in two runs. For the Knights (6-8) Haylee Fisher’s three hits included two doubles and drove in two runs. Colleen Cain had two hits.

Champion 12, Clearview 0

AKRON

McKenzie Zigmont tossed a one-hitter, striking out 14 and walking none. Zigmont, Amber Ricci, Alex Steigerwald and Megan Turner each had three hits. Zigmont and Turner each had a triple and double. Alayna Fell homered and doubled.

Champion 12, Eastlake 5

AKRON

Gardiner earned the win, striking out 11 and walking five. Zigmont, Ricci, Turner, Hurst and Brittany Allean each had two hits. Zigmont tripled and Allen doubled. Allen and Fell each had two RBIs.
