STRUTHERS

Two men from Struthers were arrested after a Thursday break-in to an Omar Street garage.

Joseph Gibbons, 19, and Austin Solomon, 18, are charged with breaking and entering and tampering with evidence. Gibbons also was charged with possession of criminal tools.

Gibbons and Solomon purportedly broke into an unattached garage on Omar Street. Stolen were drills, saws and hand tools. After a failed attempt to pawn the tools, they were left at a trash bin on Wolosyn Circle, according to a police report. Some of the tools were stolen from the car of another victim who lives on Harvey Street.

Both men were arraigned Friday with total bond set at $10,000 for Gibbons and $7,500 for Solomon. Their next court appearance is set for Friday.

Both also could face additional charges after a police investigation into a string of connected thefts that occurred Thursday, Detective Jeff Lewis said. According to police reports, several cars were broken into and valuables stolen. The thefts occurred at homes on Harvey, Como, Iroquois and Smithfield streets.
