Kevin Miller, president of a local software-development company, didn’t think his business would grow as fast as it has.

But now the reality of the company’s potential is visible in the 15,000-square-foot office building the Cogistix team moved into at the end of last year.

The move from one space on Boardman-Poland Road to the former Hill, Barth & King offices at 7680 Market St. expanded the company’s space more than three times.

“I am super-excited about this because of the training facility we have,” Miller said at the recent open house for the new offices.

Miller started Cogistix in 2009. It primarily resells a software called SYSPRO ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and implements it for manufacturing companies.

The software can handle purchasing, inventory, sales orders, manufacturing and scheduling. It helps the companies centralize their operations. Cogistix has some add-ons to the product. The company’s footprint extends beyond the Mahoning Valley to a total of 15 states.

Cogistix also has an office in Charlotte, N.C., which opened last year.

The new Boardman office building has a training center for customers or prospective customers.

“We are just excited to have all of this space,” said Staci Lombardo, the company’s marketing specialist. “It is going to be very tech- savvy here.”

The extra space means more room for employees and future employees. Windows and skylights light up the 18 offices in the building. The previous Cogistix location had just five offices, so it was difficult to fit everyone in for company meetings, Lombardo said.

Right now, Cogistix employs about 25 people from information technology to project management and other positions. Miller expects to have an additional 10 employees by the end of the year.

“Our positions are high-paying consulting and development positions,” Miller said.

The company’s investment in the new building includes nearly $840,000 to purchase the building and about $250,000 in renovations.

Renovations, by Canfield-based Hively Construction Co., are expected to be complete by the end of the year.
