Fitch volleyball to host camp for younger players

The Austintown Fitch volleyball team will be hosting a volleyball camp for those girls entering fifth and sixth grade next fall on June 18 and 19 from 9-11 a.m. There will be a volleyball camp for girls in grades 7 and 8 on June 25 and 26 from 9-11 a.m. For more information, contact Steve Mohr at smohrfitchvball@gmail.com.

Register for the Austintown Colts

The Austintown Colts Youth Football 2015 registration will take place on April 18, May 16 and June 13 and 27 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Austintown Township Hall, located at 82 Ohltown Road in Austintown. The registration fee is $75 for the first player or cheerleader and $55 for each additional child, which can be paid by cash, check, Mastercard or Visa. Additional costs are required. The Austintown Colts team and cheerleaders are open to all boys and girls who are ages 6-12 on or after July 31. Bring a photocopy of each child’s birth certificate, as well as an open enrollment acceptance letter for the 2015-2016 school year. Austintown Fitch Athletic Hall of Fame nominations

The Austintown Fitch Athletic Hall of Fame has recently re-organized the event committee and is currently seeking nominations for the HOF class of 2015. Nominations can be picked up at the main office of Fitch High School or the Austintown Schools transportation office. Nomination forms can be downloaded from the school website at austintownschools.org. Nominations must be turned in by May 1. Categories for nomination include: Students who have excelled in Austintown Fitch Athletics, Austintown Fitch Athletic Teams who have excelled, Coaches who have made outstanding contributions to Fitch and Members of the community who have made outstanding contributions to Fitch Athletics. The Austintown Fitch Hall of Fame 2015 weekend will take place beginning Oct. 2 when the Fitch Falcons football team will host Massillon Washington at Fitch Stadium. There will be a reception tent for the 2015 Inductees prior to the game, and they will be introduced prior to the start of the game. On Oct. 3, the Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony will take place at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Center. Tickets for the event will be available at Fitch High School main office after May 1.

The weather is getting warmer and it’s now spring sports season. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a spring sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
