Toledo woman, 57, dies after tree falls on SUV

TONTOGANY, Ohio (AP) — A 57-year-old Toledo woman is dead after a tree fell on her SUV in northwest Ohio.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office says Almeda Couture was driving on a rural road Wednesday afternoon when a tree fell on top of her Ford Explorer. The SUV then veered off the roadway, striking a mailbox and a utility pole.

Authorities pronounced Couture dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t life threatening, officials said.
