Kent Trumbull Theater Summer Stock 2015 season, auditions for three summer shows will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Meet in the lobby of Kent Trumbull Theater, 4314 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. “The Princess King,” written by Jeff Fluharty and directed by Patricia M. Fagan, will take place in the Commons area in June and is appropriate for children age 10 and older. The second show will be the children’s theater tour of “Rumpelstiltskin,” written by Fagan and directed by Jenny Blazek; roles are available for children age 8 to 17, and the show will be performed in July. The last, “Shrek the Musical,” is by musical director Matt White, with music by Jeanine Tesori, and will be directed by Renee John-tony. It is appropriate for age 12 and older; it also will be performed in July. Kent Trumbull also will offer a youth theater workshop for children 8 to 15 years old. There is a participation fee for summer stock classes and productions, but some scholarships are available. Singers who audition for “Shrek the Musical” should prepare a song. “Sweet Charity,SDRq directed by Kandace Cleland and Jodine Pilmer, Stage Left Players, 234 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon, auditions 10 a.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday. The directors are seeking a cast of 20 to 30 mature teens and adults to play the various characters who tell the story of the ever- hopeful Charity Hope Valentine who is always falling in love with “Mr. Wrong.” Auditionees should come prepared to sing a short musical selection and provide sheet music. Additionally, they should dress comfortably to learn a simple dance combination and read from the script. Performances will be June 12, 13, 19-21 and 26-28. “Oliver!,SDRq directed by Mark Frost, Salem Community Theater, 490 E. State St., Salem, will have auditions for adults (15 or older) at 7 p.m. May 10 and for youths (7 to 14) at 7 p.m. May 17 and 18. A large cast of adults, youths and children are needed. All parts are open, and prior stage experience is not required. The show is an adaptation of the novel “Oliver Twist” by Charles Dickens. Actors should come prepared to sing a short song; bring sheet music. Applicants without sheet music will be given an opportunity to sing any well-known song they prefer. The use of accompaniment tracks is discouraged. Come dressed in comfortable attire with shoes appropriate for dancing. The show does not require actors with formal dance training, but the choreographer wants to see applicants perform a simple dance routine that will be taught that evening. The director encourages auditions by children who have been active in other local theaters; rehearsal schedule for youths will be adjusted to allow cast members to be able to participate in the various summer acting camps offered by other local theaters. “2REAL4U Drama Christian Show,SDRq directed by Alene Wilson-Harris. There is a general casting call for all ages and ethnicities, and also a call for a lead female actress from age 20 to 35 for a major character in the show. Interested parties should call 800-352-6449, ext. 707.
