Shane Willoughby’s three RBIs and Brent Gillespie’s two runs helped the Youngstown State baseball team defeat Bowling Green 5-1 on Tuesday evening at Eastwood Field.

Willoughby drove in three out of the Penguins’ five runs, and Gillespie scored twice in YSU’s second victory of the season over the Falcons.

Josh North earned his first victory of the season. Austin Lujano pitched 22/3 scoreless innings, and Ryan Krokos went 11/3 shutout frames. Closer Anthony Konders came on in a non-save situation and did not allow a run in the ninth.

Bowling Green starter Jevon Boyd had allowed one earned run in 111/3 innings coming into the game. He was charged with four runs in five innings in the loss.

YSU will begin a three-game series against Wright State starting Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Eastwood Field.

Steelers-Patriots to open 2015 schedule

NEW YORK

The New England Patriots will host the Pittsburgh Steelers to open the NFL season on Thursday night, Sept. 10.

The game will match quarterbacks with six Super Bowl rings and nine Super Bowl appearances: Tom Brady vs. Ben Roethlisberger.

Other prime-time matchups on opening weekend will have the New York Giants at Dallas on Sunday, Sept. 13; Philadelphia at Atlanta, followed by Minnesota at San Francisco in a Monday night doubleheader.

Traditional Thanksgiving Day games will feature Detroit hosting the Eagles, followed by Carolina visiting the Cowboys. The holiday evening contest is a renewal of the NFL’s longest-running rivalry, with Chicago at Green Bay. The Packers reportedly will retire Brett Favre’s jersey that night.

Three games in London will have the Jets against the host Dolphins on Oct. 4; Buffalo facing host Jacksonville on Oct. 25; and Detroit against host Kansas City on Nov. 1.

Barcelona in semis of Champions League

Robert Lewandowski scored twice, and Bayern Munich overcame a two-goal deficit from the first leg to defeat Porto 6-1 Tuesday night and reach the Champions League semifinals for the fourth straight year.

Thiago Alcantara, Jerome Boateng, Thomas Mueller and Xabi Alonso also got goals for five-time champion Bayern, which advanced on 7-4 aggregate in the home-and-home, total-goals series.

In the night’s other match, Neymar scored in the 14th and 34 minutes, and Barcelona beat visiting Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 for a 5-1 aggregate win. Barcelona, a four-time champion, is in the semifinals for the seventh time in eight seasons.

Four selected for Lisbon Hall of Fame

The Lisbon Alumni Association is pleased to announce the four nominees selected for induction into the Lisbon Alumni Association Hall of Fame for the Class of 2015.

They are David L. Edgerton, Mary Jo Krawchyk, Gloria Mathews and Dr. Brad Rodu.

The Lisbon Alumni Association will host a dinner on Saturday, May 2 at the Salem Golf Club at 6 p.m. A social hour with cash bar will be followed by dinner. The cost of the event is $28 per person.
