Work to delay traffic

CANFIELD

There will be brief periods of stopped traffic on northbound and southbound state Route 11 underneath the U.S. Route 224 bridge today through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Those periods of stopped traffic will be at a maximum 15 minutes, the Ohio Department of Transportation said.

This work is part of the $6.5 million project to replace and widen the 224 bridge over Route 11 as well as widening Raccoon Road at 224. The Route 11 southbound ramp onto 224 also will be widened.

‘Five Minutes’ reset

Mayor John A. McNally’s monthly “Five Minutes with the Mayor Session,” originally scheduled for today, has been rescheduled to 5 p.m. next Tuesday. It will take place in the mayor’s office on the first floor of city hall, 26 S. Phelps St.

Damage to garage

AUSTINTOWN

Authorities were called to the 3600 block of Oakwood Avenue by the owner of a garage late Saturday afternoon.

Police said someone between 9 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. rammed a car into his garage, stole a wood burner valued at $500 and spray painted other buildings belonging to the owner. A spray-paint can and clothing were found in one of the buildings.

Facing drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN

Police took Scott Schulte, 40, of Robinwood Drive, to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of heroin and possession of crack cocaine after a traffic stop at Potomac Avenue and Rush Boulevard about 10:55 p.m. Saturday.

Reports said Schulte was a passenger in a car that was pulled over for running a stop sign. Reports said officers saw him try to throw a bag out of the passenger’s door.
