Chorale will present music of Italy

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning Valley Chorale, directed by Kris Harper, will present “From Italy With Love” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Brier Hill Cultural Center, 145 Jefferson St. The concert will feature Italian love songs, folk songs and opera, including arias by Donizetti, Leoncavallo, Puccini and Verdi.

Soloists include Kiyan Taghaboni, Sierra McCorvey. Alexis Musgrove, Heather Towbridge and Bernadette Nolfi, and trumpet player Antonie Jackson.

Tickets are $10 (includes wine and hors d’oeurves. For reservations, call 330-707-2144. Tickets also will be available at the door.

Stambaugh Chorus in spring concert

The Stambaugh Chorus, under the direction of Hae-Jong Lee, with accompanist Kathy Miller, will present “A Few of Our Favorite Things” at 4 p.m. Sunday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE. The spring concert’s program will include Haydn’s “The Creation,” excerpts from “Nabuco” and “Il Travatore,” and a medley from “The Sound of Music.” A free will offering will be accepted at the door.

YACCB will play at band festival

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA.

The Youngstown Area Community Concert Band (YACCB) has been selected to perform in the Three Rivers Community Band Festival as this year’s regional guest band. The festival will take place Saturday from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at Upper St. Clair (Pa.) High School auditorium, near South Hills Village on U.S. route 19. Admission is free.

The YACCB is conducted by Joseph Pellegrini and was founded in 1983. It has more than 50 members from the Youngstown region, and last performed a the festival in 2012.

Three other community bands from the Pittsburgh area will also perform Saturday. For information, go to ewsb.org/festival.

Fundraiser event at St. Charles

Msgr. Lettau Knights of Columbus Assembly’s annual Night at the Races will be Saturday at 6 p.m. at St. Charles church, U.S. route 224. Must be 21 years old. Admission is free and includes free refreshments. The event will include a raffle and basket auction.
