About $48,000 in federal funding coming to area to provide rental help and clinical services for homeless veterans

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced $47,845 in federal funding to provide rental assistance and clinical services for homeless veterans in Youngstown as part of the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing voucher program.

“Even one homeless veteran is too many,” said Brown, a Democrat from Cleveland and the ranking minority member of the Senate’s Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. “Our veterans have earned our gratitude and we cannot stand by while some of them face life on the street.”

The grant will fund housing assistance for approximately 10 veterans.

Through the program, the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority will provide rental assistance while working in partnership with the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Administration Medical Center’s Youngstown Multi-Specialty Outpatient Clinic to provide case management and clinical services to homeless veterans in Youngstown.
