AUCTIONS
Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association is preparing for its annual Basket Auction on Sunday at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields Road in Canfield. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m., and the auction begins at 3. Raffle tickets and light refreshments are included in the $5 admission. Additional bid tickets will be sold. The auction is the chapter’s primary source of funds for academic scholarships awarded to area students each year.
St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown, will sponsor its first quarter auction Friday. For this adults-only event, doors will open at 6 p.m., a preview of items will begin at 6:15, and the auction will begin at 7. Tickets cost $10 each and must be bought in advance. The ticket price includes admission and one bidding paddle. To buy tickets call 330-792-3751 anytime or 330-792-7907 on evenings only. Featured will be a 50-50 raffle and a lottery tree raffle.
St. Paul School will host live and silent auctions beginning at 5:30 p.m. May 2 in the school gymnasium, 925 E. State St., Salem. Admission of $10 includes a bidding number, a door prize entry, a drink voucher and food. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Items up for auction include travel experiences, sports memorabilia and tickets, home decor, gift cards and more. Call 330-337-3451 for information.
BINGO/Card PARTIES
Christ Our Savior Parish Altar and Rosary Society will host its annual card and bingo social at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Great Hall (behind the church) at 764 Fifth Ave., Struthers. CRAFT SHOWS
20/9 Radio Club will host a Spring Craft Show and Vendor Expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive, Austintown. Featured will be three large rooms of crafters and vendors and basket raffles. Large raffle will include a 20-inch girls bike and Android tablet. There will be a 50-50 drawing and food and beverages for purchase hosted by the Austintown Senior Center. Admission is free, and the building is stroller and handicap accessible. Celebrate Poland craft show will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 27 at the Poland Village Hall, 308 S. Main St. Potential arts and crafts vendors as well as nonprofit groups are asked to call Barbara Banks at 330-757-4584 for registration. The fee is $30 for a 15-by-10-foot space. Celebrate Poland is a family friendly weekend including a parade, music and fireworks.
NIGHTS AT THE RACES
AMVETS Post 44, 305 Elm St., Struthers, will sponsor a Night at the Races at 6:30 p.m. May 9. Admission of $20 includes food, two drink tickets and name your horse.
Monsignor Lettau Knights of Columbus Assembly 2596 will host its seventh annual Night at the Races at 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive at Route 224, Boardman. Admission and refreshments are free, and guests must be 21 or older. A 50-50 raffle and basket auction will take place.
SALES
Cortland United Methodist Church, 155 N. High St., Cort-land, is announcing its plans for a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, which will include a bake sale, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, which is $2-a-bag day. Items too large to fit into a bag will be half price that day. Church women are sponsoring the sale.
Girard Junior Women will have their annual trunk and treasure sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9 at 100 N. Market St. in Girard. The event will take place rain or shine. The event, which will have a variety of goods for sale, will take place on the Girard City lot across from the city building and is visible from Route 422.
Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothes for the entire family, including women’s sizes 0 to plus, prom dresses and some wedding attire. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays. Spring items are in, and all winter items are 70 percent off.
Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St., Girard, will host a trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 9 in the basement. A bake sale also will be offered.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Ladies Philoptochos Society of St. John Greek Orthodox Church has scheduled an authentic Greek Fashion Show and Luncheon for 1 to 4 p.m. May 3 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, 8578 Market St., Boardman. TRIPS
Niles SCOPE Senior Center has extended the deadline for the “Wine O’Clock Cleveland” trip on May 27. Seniors will travel to Cleveland and board the Nautica Queen cruise boat for a cruise, luncheon and big band entertainment. There will be a tour of three local wineries after the cruise. The bus will leave Niles at 9:30 a.m. and return at 9 p.m. The cost is $104. The deadline for payment is Friday, subject to availability. Call the center at 330-544-3676 for information.
