Youngstown cops have no suspects in city's third homicide of 2015

YOUNGSTOWN

A man who was shot to death on the East Side late Friday afternoon has been identified as Xavier L. Vega, 28.

A police report does not list his address.

The report says Vega was found unresponsive on the ground at 5:35 p.m. in front of a house in the 300 block of South Jackson Street.

He was taken away by the Mahoning County coroner’s office.

A police captain on duty Saturday afternoon said that to his knowledge, there are no suspects yet in the homicide.

Vega’s death is the city’s third homicide of 2015. At this time in 2014, Youngstown had recorded two homicides.
