POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

April 8

Identity theft: A Hilltop Drive woman found out her personal information had been used without consent.

April 11

Recovered property: A laptop computer, a wallet and an iPhone were among items found near U.S. Route 224 and Quarry Road.

Identity fraud: A Kennedy Road man learned that his identity had been compromised.

April 12

Arrest: Police near North Lima Road and Bishop Drive took 62-year-old John F. Lumpkin Jr. of Norwood Avenue, Youngstown, into custody. He was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.

BOARDMAN

April 10

Arrest: Authorities responding to a possible accident near Market Street charged Crystal D. Steinbeck, 28, of East Midlothian Boulevard, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered Le Modeln Model & Talent Agency, 7536 Market St. Missing were two employees’ files and a computer’s external hard drive.

Theft: Rebecca N. White, 22, of Deltona Drive, New Middletown, was charged with stealing 13 tubes of makeup from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Citations: A traffic stop near Market Street led to citations charging 52-year-old Lee E. Kratovil of Maple Street, Niles, with operating a vehicle impaired and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Domestic violence: Kendall T. Miller of Shields Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged an intoxicated 21-year-old Miller had bitten her right shoulder during an argument.

Theft: Police charged 46-year-old Wilbert J. Laster of East Judson Avenue, Youngstown, in the theft of a $40 Bluetooth adapter from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A man stole a $500, 6-quart mixer from Bed, Bath & Beyond, 550 Boardman-Poland Road.

Assault/criminal damaging: A Wolosyn Circle woman alleged a neighbor had pushed her several times during an argument regarding a parking space. Also, the accuser reported mud and mulch had been smeared on her car’s hood and front windshield.

Harassment: A Maramount Drive man said someone, presumably from Coral Springs, Fla., called him numerous times claiming the accuser had won $2.5 million.

Theft: Police at the Mahoning County jail picked up 25-year-old Stacy M. Ortiz of West Dennick Avenue, Youngstown, on a felony-theft charge related to a situation Aug. 26, 2014, in which a $2,520 vacuum cleaner was stolen from Clean Sweep Chimney Cleaning and Repair, 860 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Assault: A Youngstown man alleged that while in the 400 block of McClurg Road, his former girlfriend punched his left eye area.

Theft: Two women reportedly stole $72 worth of scrub pants from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave.

Harassment: A Lockwood Boulevard boy said he received a threatening voicemail message on his cellphone.

Harassment: A Hopkins Road woman alleged her sister and former husband have been making such calls to her regarding a child-custody situation.

Possible fraud: A Silver Fox Drive woman told officers someone sent her what she believed was a phony $1,290 check after the person had agreed to buy from the accuser a cabinet for $340.

Theft: Heath G. Shiflett, 25, of East Myrtle Avenue, Youngstown, was charged, accused of stealing $21 worth of undergarments from Walmart.

April 11

Theft: Police charged 38-year-old Tanisha N. Mukanos of Dickson Street, Youngstown, in the theft of $58 worth of property, including a tank top, from Walmart.

Theft: A worker for Radio Shack, 7131 Tiffany Blvd., discovered a $170 wireless microphone missing while conducting an inventory.

Assault: A man told police someone tossed a chair, striking his left arm, while he was at a South Avenue business.

Theft: Austintown police handed 36-year-old Alisha T. Morris to township authorities. Morris, of Pointview Avenue, Youngstown, was accused of taking $25 worth of merchandise Oct. 15, 2014, from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Theft: Jessica R. Powers, 23, of Cathy Ann Drive, Boardman, and Ernie G. Plourde, 23, of Meadowbrook Avenue, Boardman, were charged with stealing $987 worth of clothing from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. Powers also was charged with one misdemeanor count of child endangering when, police said, a small child was with her during the crime.

Counterfeit: A fake $50 bill was passed at Jim’s Brushless Car Wash, 238 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: Authorities at the Mahoning County jail took custody of 20-year-old Tashayla M. Glenn of Selma Avenue, Youngstown, who was accused of stealing 16 DVDs March 10 from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

April 12

Theft: Lee W. Gustafson, 33, of South Avenue, Boardman, was charged with taking a bottle of vodka from Walmart.

Theft: David A. Capretta Jr., 22, was charged. Capretta, of Shelby Road, Youngstown, was accused of taking $22 worth of items from Walmart.

Theft: A $700 camera was removed from a vehicle in the 300 block of Mathews Road.

April 13

Burglary: Took place in the 5000 block of Lockwood Boulevard via a side door, though it didn’t appear that anything had been taken.

Theft: A plastic air vent and roughly 14 gallons of gasoline were stolen from a vehicle in the 1800 block of Basil Avenue.

Domestic violence: A township boy, 16, was charged after his mother alleged the teen had struck the accuser and twice pushed her down during an argument.

Harassment: A West Boulevard woman said her former boyfriend has made and sent numerous such calls and text messages to her.

Theft: An elderly Glen Park Road man told authorities a man came to the accuser’s residence claiming the other man’s wife was stranded on the Ohio Turnpike and that he needed $50 for gasoline, which the accuser gave him before realizing it was a scam.

Identity fraud: An elderly Sequoya Drive woman filing her 2014 income-tax return reported having received a $8,758 refund check that she realized likely was fraudulent when it had not been honored.

Theft: A Hinckley, Ohio, woman noticed $2,000 worth of silver bracelets were missing from her room at a South Avenue motel.

Drugs: Police responded to suspicious activity near Southern Boulevard, where they charged 42-year-old Richard S. Cummings of Firnley Avenue, Boardman, with one felony count of drug abuse and one misdemeanor count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments. Cummings, who also was wanted on two warrants, admitted having suspected heroin and a needle, a report showed.

Theft: Michael S. Caley, 20, was picked up at the Stark County jail in Canton. The Akron man was wanted on a felony charge of complicity to theft related to a Jan. 29 situation in which $2,428 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart.

Identity theft: A Huntington Circle woman realized that while filing her 2014 income taxes online, someone had fraudulently done so in her name.

Possible theft: A dealer license plate was stolen off a vehicle near Market Street and Homestead Drive or had been lost.

Theft: A woman in a purple tank top reportedly stole soap and a can of disinfectant from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Theft: Two women took more than $900 worth of Wii video games from GameStop, 1222 Doral Drive.
