YOUNGSTOWN
One of four men involved in an attack on a man last April in Austintown received a seven-year prison sentence Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Jasan Martin, 22, of Hudson Avenue, was sentenced by Judge Lou D’Apolito on two counts of felonious assault, two counts of aggravated robbery, kidnapping and a firearm specification.
The charges stem from an attack on a man April 16, 2014, in Austintown. He entered guilty pleas Feb. 22.
The sentence was agreed upon by defense attorneys and prosecutors.
Martin apologized to the judge for his conduct.
“I made some bad choices,” Martin said. “I still have some growing up to do.”
Two other defendants already have been sentenced, and a third is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty.
Martin’s attorney, David Engler, told Judge D’Apolito that his client is from Detroit and has just one felony on his record. “This was clearly a series of tremendously bad choices,” Engler said.
Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Paris said the victim was notified of the sentencing but did not attend.
