Public invited to library presentation

BOARDMAN

The public is invited to walk through the Boardman public library, 7680 Glenwood Ave., with architects from Olsavsky-Jaminet Architects Inc., who have designed proposed renovations to that library branch, and to hear a presentation about their proposals at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Questions and comments from the public will be heard.

Library trustees will discuss the proposed $627,000 renovation project when they meet at 4 p.m. April 27 at the branch.

Architect Ray Jaminet was the original designer of the 21,500-square-foot building, which opened in 1993.

Slide the City

YOUNGSTOWN

Registration is open for Slide the City, an event that transforms more than 1,000 feet of city street into a giant slip and slide. More than 8,000 individuals joined the registration wait list, and organizers expect the event to sell out. The event will take place June 27 at Market and Front streets. Event organizers lay down padded vinyl to form a slide.

Slide the City will give away 10 free “Single Slider” entries to the first 10 nonprofit organizations to contact them. Entries can be used for fundraising raffles, online giveaways, etc.

Frosted Tutu Party

The dancers of Ballet Western Reserve, Morley Arts Building, 218 W. Boardman St., are hosting a Frosted Tutu Party for children age 3 to 10 on Sunday.

The event will include crafts, dance, face painting, storytelling, games and a performance to the hit song “Let It Go” by Ballet Western Reserve dancers.

There will be a basket raffle and the opportunity to chat with Stas Kmiec, artistic director of Ballet Western Reserve, to hear about the dance studio.

The event will have two sessions. The first session will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the second session will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. The price is $12 per child. For information and registration, call 330-744-1934. Although pre-registration is preferred, walk- ins are welcome.

Warrants served

Members of the vice squad investigating drug activity served search warrants Tuesday at two homes.

At a 527 W. Warren Ave. home on the South Side about 6:35 p.m., police found five rounds of ammunition, two pills and items with suspected heroin residue on them. Arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs and three warrants was Ghalayah LaBooth, 35, of West Warren Avenue. She was taken to the Mahoning County jail.

At a 71 N. Richview Ave. home on the West Side just after 5 p.m., police found a marijuana cigar and a digital scale. Reports said Kyle Coney, 32, of North Richview, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Special meeting

NILES

The Niles school board will have a special meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Trumbull County Educational Service Center, 600 Youngstown-Warren Road, to discuss school business.

Authority to meet

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority will meet at noon today in the board room at Amedia Plaza, 131 W. Boardman St.
