Mulch in spring?

Adding mulch in the spring is a touchy endeavor. Too much holds in moisture and can cause issues. Spring mulching should focus on early blooming shrubs (especially azaleas and rhododendrons) and spots where wildlife pulled mulch away from trees and shrubs. Wait until late May for other mulching.
