LANSING, MICH.

Youngstown native Richard Lee Robinson has released his first film, “The Strength of A Woman.”

The full-length film is a relationship drama that focuses on a woman who, for the first time in her life, goes after what she really wants, despite the wishes of her tradition-minded husband.

Robinson, who lives in Michigan, is a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School. He wrote, directed and produced the film the movie in Michigan with actors from that area. Madison Carter of Youngstown, who is just 1 year old, is seen in the movie.

Robinson gives the main character, Janet Thomas, intelligence, determination and a loving relationship. He said those are attributes that are often missing in female-driven films. Regina Riddle stars in the role.

It took Robinson more than four years to go from script to screen because he suffered an accident-related traumatic brain injury.

He wants his film to promote brain-injury awareness, and shares stories from survivors at the beginning of the reel.

To help traumatic-brain-injury victims, Robinson is donating a portion of the Ohio movie sales to the Brain Injury Association of Ohio to assist its support groups.

The Youngstown/Warren Brain Injury Support Group welcomes survivors and their families. It can be reached by calling Judy Pecorelli at 330-841-3873. The group meets monthly at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Warren.
