Free Golf Day

Drug charges

BOARDMAN

A township man faces multiple drug-related charges after police stopped him on Southern Boulevard at Meadowbrook Avenue on Monday.

Richard Cummings, 42, of Firnley Avenue is charged with felony drug possession and misdemeanor counts of possession of drug-abuse instruments and paraphernalia. He also had warrants out of Youngstown Municipal Court for failure to appear on drug and traffic charges.

Police stopped him after they saw him get out of a vehicle police know to be used for drug deals, and then found the items on him. Cummings was taken to the Mahoning County jail.

Ruling appealed

WARREN

Kendell L. Stauffer Jr. of Girard has appealed the ruling of Visiting Judge Richard Reinbold in the suit Stauffer filed against his boss, Trumbull County Engineer Randy Smith. It goes to the 11th District Court of Appeals. Judge Reinbold of Stark County dismissed the lawsuit in common pleas court last month. The suit sought to have Smith removed from office for purported illegal conduct.

Antique owners are invited to bring their rare vintage items to the Boardman public library branch, 7680 Glenwood Ave., at 5 p.m. Thursday to have them appraised without charge by Jeff Byce, a Youngstown auctioneer. Attendees will be limited to three to five easily carried items each.
