Phantoms drop Game 1 in OT to Muskegon


The Youngstown Phantoms drop game one of the Clark Cup first round series in Muskegon, 5-4 in overtime.

Matheson Iacopelli scored the game-winner for the Lumberjacks 4:38 into the extra period. Games two and three of the best-of-five series will be at the Covelli Centre on Friday and Saturday.

The Phantoms trailed by two in the second period, but goals by Ryan Lomberg and Vas Kolias tied the game.

Kyle Connor and Josh Melnick got the Phantoms on the board in the first period. Mark Petaccio, Griffen Molino, Christian Wolanin and Adrian Sloboda were the regulation goal scorers for the Lumberjacks.

Chris Birdsall stopped 36 of 41 shots in net for Youngstown. Eric Schierhorn made 34 saves for Muskegon.
