Niles relay to host dinner and bake sale

Relay for Life of Niles will host a spaghetti dinner and bake sale from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at McKinley Heights Fire Hall, 2229 Gardenland Ave. Dinner donations are $7 for adults, $3 for children 4 to 10 and free for kids under 3. Meals come with optional meatball, a garden salad, bread and a beverage. Dine in or carry out. A basket raffle also will take place.

The Relay for Life of Niles will take place May 1 and 2 at Mayor Infante Wellness Center at Waddell Park.

Italian Fest scholarships offered

Applications for a Youngstown State University Scholarship from The Greater Youngstown Italian Fest are now available by contacting Deborah Mottle at mottlesmurals@gmail.com, or applications may be retrieved from www.youngstownitalianfest.org/.

Applicants must attend Youngstown State University and be of Italian descent to be eligible. The deadline for applicants is June 7.

Service groups plan community gathering

A community event, Meet Your Local Service Organization Groups, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. April 21 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, to spread information about service organizations such as Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, Optimists, Austintown Growth Foundation, American Legion and Austintown Junior Woman’s League.

Each group will have five minutes to explain the group they represent and what projects they do in the community. Afterward, everyone can visit the service organizations’ tables, meet the members and talk with other people from the community.
