Dinner-theater at Kennedy Catholic

HERMITAGE, PA.

Kennedy Catholic High has restarted its drama program and will present a dinner-theater production of “Ax of Murder” this weekend and next in the school cafeteria.

Show dates and times for the mystery-comedy are 6:45 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and again May 1 and 2.

Tickets are $20 ($15 for students) in advance, and $22 at the door. The admission price includes dinner, which is being catered by Muscarella’s Cafe Italia in Sharpsville, Pa. Reservations can be made by calling 724-346-5531, in person at the main office of the high school and online at kchs.k12.pa.us/theatre-program/.

Speech contest winner advances

YOUNGSTOWN

Executive 408 Toastmasters Youngstown President Mark Williams of Youngstown won the Toastmaster Central Division evaluation spring contest March 30. He will advance to the District 10 International speech and evaluation contest in Cleveland on Saturday.

For the evaluation contest, a speaker gives a target speech, and then all of the evaluation contestants leave the room, returning one at a time to evaluate the same speech.

Williams will compete against other champions from other districts around Ohio. He is repeating as district champion, as he represented the district in 2013.

Contra dance at park pavilion

YOUNGSTOWN

A family-friendly Contra Dance will be Saturday at Mill Creek MetroParks’ Pioneer Pavilion, 870 Old Furnace Road. Teaching will begin at 7 p.m., and a dance will follow from 7:30 to 10:30.

Beginner and experienced dancers of all ages are welcome. No partner is needed. All dances are caller prompted. Cost is $7 per person.
