Police say 3 in their 70s killed in central Ohio car crash


PATASKALA, Ohio (AP) — Police say three people in their 70s have died after a head-on collision in central Ohio.

Authorities in Licking County say the crash occurred around 8:30 Monday night on state Route 16 in Pataskala, east of Columbus.

Pataskala police say that the three killed were 77-year-old John Wemmer of Columbus, 79-year-old Sotir Petrovski and his 73-year-old wife Kata Petrovski, both of Gahanna. All three were transported to area hospitals after the crash, where they died.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the collision involved a car and a minivan, and occurred when one vehicle crossed the center line and hit the other.

Police didn’t immediately release additional information on the crash.
