Links chapter plans annual 300 Sisters in Red health fair

The Links Inc. Youngstown Chapter and co-sponsors Mercy Health, Anthem, Youngstown State University and the American Heart Association will host the 10th annual 300 Sisters in Red free health fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Kilcawley Center at YSU. For information on how to register call 330-480-3070.
Health screenings will be administered from 8 to 10 a.m. Total cholesterol and blood sugar both require a 12-hour fast. Other screenings will be offered, such as blood pressure, body fat, bone density, colon cancer, HIV and stroke risk assessment.
Also available will be fitness training and massage. Between 10 a.m. and noon, breakout sessions will feature speakers Dr. Michelle J. McCollin, Dawn Powell, Dr. Keisha Robinson, Jaison Boyd, Dr. Cesar Augustin and Monica Hoskins-Vann.
Door prizes will be distributed, and a light, healthful lunch will be served from 12:30 to 2 p.m. A special focus of this year’s event will be how depression affects the heart, and the featured speaker will be Dr. Fidelis O. Mkparu, M.D., FACC.
To take advantage of fitness training, participants should dress casually and comfortably and wear red to support women’s heart health.
Parking is free in the M-2 parking garage off Fifth Avenue.
