UW ANNUAL MEETING
The United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley is having its 2014 annual meeting at 5 p.m. today at the Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland.
Barbara Sykes, president of Ohio United Way, is keynote speaker for the event, sponsored by Talmer Bank and Trust, at which milestones achieved by the organization and top campaigns and volunteers will be recognized for their contributions.
HEALTH INSURANCE
For people who were unaware or didn’t understand the implications of the penalty for not having health care coverage during 2014, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has established a special enrollment period for tax season that ends April 30.
If people do not get health care coverage during this period, they may have to pay a penalty of $325 per adult; $162.50 per child under age 18; or 2 percent of their household income, whichever is higher.
Access Health Mahoning Valley is enrolling people eligible for this special enrollment period by appointment only.

HEALTH AT HOME
Mercy Health Youngstown will host a one-hour workshop, Health at Home, from 11 a.m. to noon and from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Warren Room at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave.
The workshop and all materials are free, but reservations are required. Call 330-480-3070.
The workshop includes a reference guide that provides information about more than 200 common health problems as well as tips on caring for yourself and your family, preventing illness and injury and advice on when to seek medical attention.

This is a reminder that the Mahoning County commissioners will have their weekly meeting at 10 a.m. today in their hearing room in the courthouse basement, 120 Market St., Youngstown.
The commissioners usually meet Thursdays.
