Aid groups: World must push for end to Gaza blockade

JERUSALEM

A coalition of international aid groups says the world must change its approach to war-ravaged Gaza, including by demanding a lifting of the blockade of the Hamas-ruled territory.

The Association of International Development Agencies said Monday that reconstruction of thousands of homes and businesses destroyed in last summer’s Israel-Hamas war has barely begun and that donor countries so far have released only one-fourth of $3.5 billion in promised aid.

3-year-old shoots, kills 1-year-old boy

CLEVELAND

Police in Cleveland say a 3-year-old boy picked up an unattended gun inside a home and it went off, shooting a 1-year-old boy in the head and killing him.

Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams told reporters gathered outside the home after the shooting Sunday afternoon investigators are trying to determine where the gun came from.

Cleveland.com reports the 1-year-old was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. Full details about the shooting on the city’s east side weren’t released, but Williams said at least one adult was home when it happened.
