HBO’s “Veep” returned Sunday, and Vice President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis- Dreyfus) is now President Selina Meyer (after the incumbent’s resignation). Here are five other TV women who have occupied the Oval Office:

v Julia Mansfield (Patty Duke, “Hail to the Chief,” 1985): In this short-lived comedy created by Susan Harris (“Soap”), the nation’s first female president had to deal with a wide range of problems from her impotent husband to an American major threatening to start World War III.

v Mackenzie Allen (Geena Davis, “Commander in Chief,” 2005-06): She was elected vice president, but ascended to the White House upon the president’s fatal cerebral aneurysm.

v Caroline Reynolds (Patricia Wettig, “Prison Break,” 2005-07): Devious vice president and mastermind of the show’s conspiracy who wanted to be chief executive by any means necessary. That included secretly poisoning the sitting president, which she did in the first-season finale.

v Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones, “24,” 2008-10): She dealt with African crazies invading the White House, the assassination of a Middle East peacemaker, shadowy military contractors, even more shadowy Russians and the enigma known as Jack Bauer.

v Constance Payton (Alfre Woodard, “State of Affairs,” 2014): America’s first female African-American president and boss of the show’s main character, CIA analyst Charleston Tucker (Katherine Heigl).

“TURN: WASHINGTON’S SPIES” (9 P.M., AMC): “Turn” launches its second season on a new night and with an added subtitle. The opener finds patriot spook Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell) determined to infiltrate New York City.
